The PAX Forum has been running for several years and the members are all parents or carers, who live in Poole, Dorset and have a child with special needs or a disability.
At PAX we really believe that parents and carers are experts when it comes to the needs of their children and families - especially when children have special needs or disabilities - we know our children best !
This website will help you to
-
find out about the work that our members are doing to ensure that parents` and carers` views form part of decision-making around services for our families in Poole - (Committee Meeting minutes on the Downloads page)
-
send us your views on local services and find out about local and national consultations that are taking place now (What`s Your View? page and Current Consultations page)
-
join us as a COMMITTEE MEMBER or an ASSOCIATE MEMBER so that you can be involved - YOU can really make a difference (About Us page and Contact Us page)
HOW HAS PAX HELPED PARENTS AND CARERS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
-
Short Breaks activities for children with special needs and disabilities in the school holidays – due to PAX involvement there are now more activities that children want to attend, and better support for a wider range of needs – PAX continues this work
-
We have ensured that the views of parents and carers influenced the development of the Xchange website – new in Poole soon
-
PAX gathered detailed feedback from local parents and carers for the government`s Green Paper consultation on Special Educational Needs (SEN) – this will influence the future way that children with special needs and disabilities are supported
-
We have been involved in developing the Poole SEN Policy, Poole Children`s Plan, revised Anti-Bullying Strategy, and plans supporting 18 year olds moving to adult services
-
PAX worked with health on improving the system of nappy supplies for children with disabilities
-
A system to routinely involve parents and carers of all children in Poole (not just those with special needs or disabilities) will soon be helping to improve all Children`s Services in Poole – PAX lobbied for this and will stay involved as it develops
-
and more.......
