Aims of the PAX Forum
- To improve services for children with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities and their families
- To form an effective partnership between parents/carers and professionals in reviewing and developing services
- For parents and carers to feel valued by being able to contribute their views and receive feedback on their contributions
- For professionals providing services for children with SEN and disabilities, to be confident that their services fit the user’s needs.

Membership
Committee Members
There are currently about 12 Committee Members. They all have children with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities and represent a good spectrum of parents and carers within the Borough of Poole.
Members currently include parents and carers from many parts of Poole, with children attending:
- pre-schools
- mainstream primary and secondary schools
- special schools locally and futher afield
Some Forum members also sit on other strategic/steering groups within the Borough of Poole such as: short breaks, Poole Parents Voice, Complex Needs Planning, PoPPs Poole Parent Partnership Service Steering Group, TIME4ME Steering Group, Transitions Strategy Group
Associate Members
Associate Members are parents and carers would like to be regularly involved in the work of the PAX Forum, but cannot attend committee meetings or do not wish to. They keep in touch by email, text, phone, post and regularly contribute their views in this way

The Forum maintains close links with PoPPs Poole Parent Partnership Service, which is an impartial and confidential service for parents and carers who live in Poole and
- care for a child with special educational needs (SEN)
- Or who have concerns about exclusion from school
- Or who are applying for a school place to start school for the first time, or when moving up to secondary school

Forum Committee Meetings
The Forum committee meets every other month (6 times a year) to:
- receive the latest information about issues relating to services in Poole for children and young people with special needs
- pass the views of parents and carers in Poole to those who provide and develop local services
- ensure that parents` views feed into the planning for changes and developments to services
- receive feedback on changes made to plans for services as a result of Forum involvement
- receive support and training so that they can contribute effectively to the work of the Forum
On the Home page you will find the date of the next planned meeting of the Forum, together with a link to all the past minutes from Forum meetings
FUTURE PLANS: It is planned to hold a Consultation Event every year in future, where all parents and carers of a child with special needs or a disability will be invited to come along and give their views on services - the first event, called STOP, LOOK, LISTEN will be held on 22nd March 2012 - watch this website for more information
