FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS about the Forum:-
Q- This website does not give general information about special needs and disabilities - why not?
A- The role of the Forum is to ensure that parents and carers` views on services for their children with special needs and disabilities are listened to and influence services for their families. We do not have the resources to keep an accurate, up-to-date library of general information. The job of providing information is better left to the experts. Please try the following websites:

Q-What is the purpose of the Poole Parents/Carers Special Needs Forum?
A-To work with Parents and Carers of Children and Young people with special needs or disabilities to bring about change and improvements to services delivered by Poole Children’s Services

Q-I've heard all of this before. How do we know that all of this talk is going to get things done?
A- The Government is committed to making sure this happens and is providing grant funding every year until at least 2014 to help local Forums, like ours. The Poole Local Authority have also committed to this and provide funding and a coordinator to support the Forum and ensure that parents and carers really do have the opportunity to put across their views and receive feedback on what has changed as a result.

Q-Who makes sure that the government funding is used by our Forum to make a difference?
A-Contact a Family have been commissioned by the government to support parent and carer groups nationwide to help implement parent participation. We also have to report back to them on how we have spent the grant funding and what the outomes are. To learn more about Contact a family, click here www.cafamily.org.uk

Q-How can I send my comments on services to the Poole Parent/Carer Special Needs Forum?
A-Press the ‘What’s your view?’ button at the top of the page on this website and complete the form.

Q-What will happen to my comments or views if I complete the form?
A-The information you provide will be shared (anonymously) with the Forum. If the issue has been discussed recently you will find feedback on the recent meeting minutes, which you can download from the Home page, or on the news feedback page. Otherwise, the forum will discuss the issue and you will find the outcome in the meeting minutes once this has happened. All discussions that occur in meetings are fed back to local service managers.
